Charlotte, NC (August 22, 2014) – Socialserve.com, a Charlotte-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit and national leading provider of affordable housing locator services, will hold its first-ever fundraiser next month. The HeARTh and Home Gala is Friday, September 19, at Tate Hall on the main campus of Central Piedmont Community College. Silent and live auctions will raise money for Socialserve.com internal programs and staff resources.

A Second Chance and HUD Section 3 Employer, Socialserve.com partners with several Charlotte agencies to hire people facing barriers to stable employment. Socialserve.com provides full-time employment with benefits along with professional and personal development opportunities such as financial counseling and a no-interest revolving loan fund.

With nationally known maker, teacher and crafts advocate Brent Skidmore as MC, the event promises to be lively. The auctions feature area favorites including painter David French, fiber artist Jet LeBlanc, Carolina Ships in Bottles craftsman Jim (Goose) Goodwin, and photographer Byron Baldwin. Asheville’s own Tracy Harris and Lawrence Dillingham will set the tone with their acoustic guitar performances, and the CPCC Aspire Bakery & Bistro and the Baking and Pastry Club are creating gourmet hors d’ouevres and desserts for attendees.

Sponsors for the event include the Arizona Department of Housing, the Foundation for the Carolinas; Blair, Bohlé and Whitsitt, PLLC; Coca-Cola; and Mutual Group Benefits.

“We’re excited to bring so many local advocates together and to raise awareness of who we are and what we do here in Charlotte,” said Wendy Bentley, Chair of the event committee.
