People looking for affordable housing in four mountain counties now have a new tool available.
Five sponsors are funding the posting of local housing listings on www.socialserve.com, a Charlotte-based nonprofit Web site and referral service, as of Tuesday. The site allows users to search for housing in Buncombe, Henderson, Madison and Transylvania counties that rent for no more than 120 percent of a federal measure of "fair market" rent. Landlords can also post their properties on the site at no charge.

People who don't have Internet access can call a toll-free number to get access to listings: 1-877-428-8844.
